In a unique life that combines art with drumming, spiritual healing and real estate, Carl Wergyn's photography reflects an intimate vision of a true Renaissance man.

Born in the Back Hills of South Dakota, raised in Omaha, and living his adulthood in Minneapolis, Carl's view of life is a view of light in the shadow, of beauty in the mundane, of abstract in the natural.  Through Carl's eyes, all is balanced; all is a rhythmic healing palpitating a presence of non-duality.

"My desire is to convey the feelings of unconscious memories," Carl explains, "to capture the essence of creation.  Whether I'm looking at the remains of a bonfire in the stillness of dawn's first light, or the fluidity of water in a contrasting abyss, my images are proclamations of my spirit seeking to identify in a creation of alchemy."

Carl's photographic settings range from the easily accessible to a style he laughingly refers to as "guerilla shooting": hanging by an arm from a tree branch overhanging a cliff, or strolling into a tour group and wandering off the beaten path.  "Whatever it takes," he says unpretentiously.
