Artist Statement In my pictures, I try to express my feelings through the coalition between the abstract and the figurative. I leave my creativity to flow with a lot of freedom, many times inside of a process of "psychic automatism”. I create creatures, animals and imaginary worlds out of time, because I want to break the limits of the obvious, to reach the profundities of the soul, until arriving to the unconscious. With a camera, I started last year a deep study in forms, colors and brightness. Through pictures of logs of trees and many observations of the nature, I could notice different tonalities that later would be to the base of my whole work. The harmony of the colors for me is fundamental. I like to choose a generic tone for each picture and later to promote the unfolding, the decomposition in stains, but always falling back upon the contrasting shades to give vitality to the composition. In most of the cases, I idealize a form and I tune in my feelings with certain colors before beginning. Suddenly, in the middle of the work, I confront myself with the stranger, with the no-dreamed work: the unexpected appears, as part of the inconstancy that is essential to the evolution of every creative process. Otherwise, the artist sinks in the stagnation. In my pictures, dream and reality are mixed. Imaginary worlds are projected in the canvas to whisper in my soul a new road. To perfect the technique is a fair anguish, always present, but I know that all creation is something unfinished and I am resuming now that I judged what was finished yesterday. According to Joseph Albers's theories, that demonstrated the infinite possibilities of the interaction of the colors, in the works that I executed in the past the color always had an artificial character, that is, of thing laboratorial. Today it is a more natural character, result of a lot of research. Today the work is in a new form of to do and to undo the color, of the game of stains and gestures, of the softening and hard in the function of the color. After a year of arduous work in my ateliê, I could establish a confirmation of the dialetic inside/outside, at the same time that I tried to demonstrate the infinite wealth of my intimate universe. With my current optimism I try to evidence lights and colors, now full and totally on the surface of the white canvas, trying to involve the spectator in an euphoric sensation. The abstract roads take us to the encounter of the art as source of the human evolution, where the artist tries to portray the enigma of the creation. Creature and creator now will join in only one magic moment of interaction, revealing to the humanity the direction to the spiritual elevation. It is necessary to come back to a beauty ideal, balanced and with harmony inside of the art and consequently inside of the own life. We cannot paint the world where we lived, but the world that we would like to live. We will believe in a new century of light, of conscience, where the interior beauty will be the tonic, each human being intimate search, tuning in a larger energy than everything created. The artist can accomplish this transformation, because you always made your great revolutions in this world with your sounds, colors, forms and vibrations that become a legacy, that belongs to all the humanity in every time. Let us do our lives the work of art that will serve as concrete roads in this incredible abstraction that the life is. |
